DIY moment

Trying to reduce the toxins in my life by adding all natural foods and products into my daily routine. I've almost completely eliminated processed foods from my diet and now I'm sorting out my skin care products. First, I checked the ingredients in my favorite products on Skin Deep’s cosmetics database and was shocked to find out how many toxic chemicals are in my products. So I immediately began searching for better alternatives. I found many options and diy recipes and decided to make my own.   Some of my favorites  organic beauty, handmade beauty.

Lotion and lip balms are an obsession of mine so I decided to start there.

My first lip balm recipe.

2 tbsp coconut oil

1 tbsp beeswax

1 tbsp cocoa butter

1 tbsp honey

Melt all ingredients in a double boiler, pour into small tins, let cool, done!

Fills 6 tins.

I can't believe how easy this is and how amazing the lip balm feels!

My first lotion bar recipe.

5 oz coconut oil

4 oz shea butter

4 oz beeswax

Melt in double boiler, pour into molds, let cool, done!

2 square bars. 

I've been using this for a week now and my skin loves it!

Working on a little painting. It's hard to know when the piece is finished I struggle between leaving it clean and simple or adding more detail.  I'll stare at it a while and see what happens.

I decided to graduate from speedy carve to linoleum for printmaking options. I have to say linoleum is much harder to carve but produces a really nice print.
